In the broadest definition, a sensor is a device, module, machine or subsystem whose purpose is to detect events or changes in the environment and send information to other electronic devices, usually computer processors. Sensors are always used with other electronic devices.
Sensors are also used in everyday objects, such as touch-sensitive elevator buttons (tactile sensors) and lights that darken or brighten by touching the base, as well as numerous applications that most people never realize. With the development of micro-mechanical technology and the development of easy-to-use micro-controller platform, the application of sensors has been extended to traditional temperature, pressure or flow measurement fields, such as MARG sensors. In addition, analog sensors such as potentiometers and force induction resistors are still widely used. Applications include manufacturing and machinery, aircraft and aerospace, automobile, medicine, robotics and many other aspects of our daily life. There are many other sensors that can measure the chemical and physical properties of materials. Some examples include optical sensors for refractive index measurement, vibration sensors for fluid viscosity measurement, and electrochemical sensors for monitoring fluid pH value.
